Admissions Process

Policies

1. Students of any background or belief are welcome to apply to Cornerstone Community School. However, parents must realize that our school is clearly based on Christian principles which are woven into the fabric of the school,  and they must be willing to support their children in this type of education. Please see our curriculum explanation for further details.

2. Children applying for kindergarten should be five years old by September 1 of the year for which they are seeking enrollment. First graders should be six by September 1, etc.   However, individual decisions are made after assessing children who seem to be ready slightly earlier.

3. The school office keeps a list of applicants and when applications are received. When class space is limited by facilities or staff, those students who have submitted the earliest applications will be considered first. All students will be notified of acceptance as soon as possible, but no later than July 15. Students who are currently enrolled and their siblings will be given first priority in enrollment for subsequent years.

4. If a student is transferring from another school to Cornerstone Community School, all records must be received and reviewed before the admissions application is complete. Admission may be denied if any information is falsified or if records indicate the student has special needs which the school cannot meet.

In summary, when considering whether or not a student will be admitted, we look at the following areas:
• Is there a match between the parents and CCS regarding our educational philosophy and parental involvement policy and an understanding of our biblical worldview?
• Do we have the space for additional students?
• Does admitting this student help provide more diversity in our school community?
• Can we meet any special needs which the student may have?

We recognize students are gifted in a variety of ways, just as the body of Christ is made up of individuals with varying gifts. We want our school to reflect the same diversity found in the Body of Christ. Cornerstone Community School is a place where students with academic gifts as well as gifts in other areas have the opportunity to obtain a Christian education in a private school. It is our desire that every student be given ample opportunity to excel in the development of their God-given abilities.
