We invite you to call Cornerstone with any questions you may have that are not answered on this website. It is our desire for you to make an informed decision on the education of your child. Please do not hesitate to call 330-686-8900 during the school day.
Q: Is Cornerstone School accredited?
A: Our school has met or exceeded all standards for elementary schools (K-6) set by the State of Ohio. In addition, in spring of 2011, Christian Schools International granted full accreditation status to Cornerstone Community School.
Q: Is Cornerstone Community School operated by a particular church or denomination?
A: CCS was founded by people from a number of denominations who were concerned about providing a school with Biblical principles totally integrated into the curriculum. We are independent and our board and students represent many different churches in the greater Akron area.
Q: How is Cornerstone different from other Christian schools?
A: In addition to our class size being limited to eighteen students, there are two strong distinguishing characteristics of CCS. First, all of our curriculum has been written to integrate biblical principles throughout, which allows students to learn that all of God's world is interrelated. Second, we view each individual as a unique creation of God with specific talents and learning styles that are God-given. This view allows differentiated instruction to the child's unique style and gifts.
Q: Do you have qualified teachers?
A: All our teachers are licensed or certified by the State of Ohio. Cornerstone recognizes the value of continuous education and provides opportunities for our full-time staff to pursue advanced degrees and training. Our special area teachers (Spanish, Art, Music and Band) also have teaching certificates and have extensive experience working with elementary students.
